Born in Kassala, Sudan in 1937, BHARATbhai G. SHAH possessed a very strong will, a “never say die”
spirit and tremendous
business acumen. His early days were filled with hardships and a lot of challenges, but Bharatbhai
turned every
adversity into an opportunity; such was his optimism. Since then, BHARATbhai G. SHAH had been the
one to never look
back. His focus was on a future with strong and ambitious prospects. He believed that one can
achieve whatever one has
set out to. Bharat Shah’s youth days were spent in Mangrol, Gujarat since the family returned to
India immediately after
his birth in Sudan.
At a very tender age of nine he learnt to sell the family’s agri-produce in the
commodity market.
Realizing his business potential, his father Shri Gulabchand L. Shah took him to Sudan to set up a
business. Bharat G.
Shah was soon running a successful import business and making a name for the family and himself in
the foreign land.
When his younger brothers were introduced to the same business, he thought of migrating back to
India and to settle.
A hard worker
and a visionary
at heart, Bharat Shah has achieved great peaks. He received accolade from the Govt. of India. A few of
his achievements
are listed below
• Establishing one of the first Government Recognized Export Houses in India in the year 1977
• Winning ENGINEERING EXPORT PROMOTION COUNCIL awards for western region for years 1980-81 ,
1982-83 ,
84-85 , 86-87 , 87-88
• 1990s saw him changing his strategy for higher goals. Bhaart Shah strived for international
tenders
in Arica, floated
by the World Bank against big business houses like TATA. Not only was he successful , he won them over
for many years
from 1988 to 1992
By now he had established LOVSON as an Export business house based in Mumbai. He was also the “most
valued “customer for
BANK of INDIA, and was so commemorated by the then President Mr. A.P.J. ABDUL Kalam , when BANK of INIDA
completed its
100 years in 2006.
With his sons Parimal B. Shah and then Jinesh joining him later in Business ,
Bharatbahi decided to
divert his attention toward our SAMAJ and since mid 1990s he had been very active.
He spearheaded the
growth of our
Samaj till his last breath! Bharatbai Shah’s popularity amongst our community can only be gauged by the
support he
enjoyed; the wishes and blessings that every member showered upon him. He was philanthropist; always
willing to help
anyone in need, support them in any way possible either monetarily, in kind or with moral support. The
day he left for
his heavenly abode, it was a “black letter” day for all of us. His void will always be felt in our
hearts, our work and
our SAMAJ! Bharat Bahi shares a special place in our hearts and will always do so till our last breath!!
I would request
you all to Pray for his soul and keep alive his memories thinking of all the good times he has shared
with us in his
inimitable cheerful way!!
Jai SHRI KRISHNA
